Young Vito Found Not Guilty of Murder
Young Vito, born Vinson Hardimon, was found not guilty in the murder of fellow Atlanta rapper Slim Dunkin earlier today (February 25th.) Hardimon was accused of shooting Dunkin, born Mario Hamilton, in December of 2011 during an argument that began over a piece of candy.
Police were unable to recover the murder weapon, but several witnesses stated that Hardimon was the shooter in the incident.
Hardimon was acquitted on murder charges, but was found guilty of aggravated assault and possession of a handgun during the commission of a felony crime. Fulton County Superior Court Judge Craig Schwall sentenced Hardimon to a maximum 25 year sentence in jail.
Slim Dunkin, an affiliate and childhood friend of Waka Flocka Flame, was shot on December 16th, 2011 at an Atlanta recording studio during a music video shoot. Witnesses indicate that the fight that ultimately led to Dunkin's death began over a piece of candy.
"I’m disappointed with that verdict,” Dunkin's father, Mark Hamilton, said. “I don’t know what (the jury) saw. In the end, he got 25 years and we can have some closure."
